Healthcare Professional Highlight
Full Name: Jonelle Thomas
Employer: A.G. Rhodes
Job Title: Director of Social Services
What do you hope to accomplish as a social worker?
My accomplishment was to become a Social Worker. Becoming a Social Worker in this population has filled my heart every day with knowing that I have helped someone in some capacity.
At Perennial Angels Homecare, we serve the senior population. What interest you the most about serving this population?
Learning interests me the most about service in this population. I have met so many different people learned so much about their lives. I have learned so much about the plagues of ageism. I have learned so much about healthcare and the ailments that this population lives with. I have also learned how to overcome many different obstacles and assist people.
How do you build relationships in the healthcare community to create resources for the clients that you serve?
I try to go to networking events whenever time permits. However, being in the skilled nursing setting doesn’t give you a lot of time for getting out. I make myself available and educate my elders and families as best as possible – I am a resource within the A.G. Rhodes community. We also host different community and family nights that enable to get information out to the communities.
How do you balance your work and personal life?
One of the greatest things about working for A. G. Rhodes is the flexibility I have in my position. My company is family-oriented and understands that family is a very important part of my life. I make it a point to not work too much from home as to not take time and attention away from my son. Work is a constant, my family is a priority.
What are some of your biggest accomplishments in your fieldwork?
One of my biggest accomplishments working as a Social Worker is being an active part of A.G. Rhodes’ journey on becoming an Eden Certified Community.
Perennial Angels Visits Village Park Senior Living Facility
On August 7, 2019, our Founder, Grady Caldwell, attended the Senior Resource Alliance of North Atlanta meeting at the Village Park Senior Living Facility located in Alpharetta, GA. The Senior Resource Alliance serves as a local resource for accessing many services and programs available to senior citizens, their caregivers, and family members. During this meeting, there was an opportunity to hear from some great resources, network with other professionals serving the senior community, and tour the beautiful Village Park Senior Living facility. The facility offers second to none accommodations and is a great option for seniors that can no longer reside in the comfort of their home.
